Brewer, and Ed and Jeanine Thomson, Hunting-toannounce the marriage of their daughter, Denise Mayre, to Mark Craig Gardner, son of Charlotte B. Gardner, Mt. Pleasant and the late Mark Craig Gardner, on Saturday, Nov. 22, 1997, in the Manti LDS Temple. A reception will be held in their honor that evening from 7 to 9 p.m., in the Spring City LDS Church, 164 South Main. The bride is a 1994 graduate of North Sanpete High School and a 1995 graduate of Provo College in office administration. She is currently employed at Central Utah Counseling Center in Mt. Pleasant. Grandmother is Marie Thomson, Bountiful. The bridegroom is a 1989 graduate of North Sanpete High School. He also graduated from Snow College and is currently in his senior year at Utah State University majoring in computer science. He has served in the U.S. Army and in the Argentina, Buenos Aires South LDS Mission. The couple will make their home in Logan. n, The Sound of Music slated by high school MT. PLEASAN- T- A marathon reading sponsored by the library and KUED-- 7 will begin Nov. 20 with the Mt. Pleasant Library hosting a special n event on Thursday, Nov. 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. Parents and children are welcome to dress comfortable, bring along pillows and blankets, and enjoy a relaxing evening of reading, snacks and activities with a librarian reading a picture book for the very youngest participants about every 30 minutes. Reading marathon participation forms will be given out so that the reader can keep track of their reading record. Participants may read independently or to family members and friends. Family members and friends may also read to young participants. A parent or adult must sign the participants form to verify that the required reading has been completed. must read the Participants following amounts to successfully complete the reading marathon: through second grade, 2.5 hours; third and fourth grades, four hours; fifth grade and up, five hours. Arthur, the popular book character by Marc Brown and now a PBS animated series, is the theme for this reading event. The marathon will continue until Thursday, Dec. 4, when all completed reading marathon participation forms must be turned into the Mt. Pleasant Library by 8 p.m. Children who successfully k marathon complete the will receive a Super Reader Certificate and an invitation to attend a private Super Reader Pizza Party with Arthur movies at the Mt. Pleasant Public Library. There is also an opportunity for participants to send a completed form to the Salt Lake City Public Library and they will be invited for breakfast and storytelling with Arthur at the Barnes and Noble Bookstore on 400 South and 600 East, Salt Lake City. The activity is free of charge and open to the public. It is cosponsored by the Friends of the Mt. Pleasant Library. For further information call the Mt. Other students in lead roles include Rachel Hamblin, Brett Blackham, Jessica Ramsey and Kyle Hart. The Von Trapp children have grown up in a household run on military rules. Maria goes against the Captains wishes by bringing fun and music into their lives. The Captains heart is touched by the changes in his children. He and Maria fall in love and marry. Living during the upheaval of War II Austria, the Captain must choose whether to join the Nazi regime or to leave his former life and flee to Switzerland. Sue Rasmussen, high school drama teacher has worked hard at adapting the play for a large cast, enabling participation of more of the areas youth. Originally staged for a cast of 30, over 60 high school and elementary students are participating. Anna Aagard, Shirley Hilton, Darcee Benge, Luella Hall and Kerrie Curtis have been instrumental in aiding the production.
