Show Corporal Reynolds Wins Two Prizes In Marksmanship Militiamen Defeat Team Picked From Best Shots At Fort Douglas. ij Fairview The work of paving the sidewalks is now practically over. Thirty eight blocks of pavement and thirty nine street crossings having ben put in. This is certainly a great improvement improve-ment to our streets. This week they are measuring the work, leveling and filling dirtaround crossings, etc. The work as a whole is very good. Quite a large number of our people peo-ple are at Salt Lake this week attending at-tending the State Fair and conference. confer-ence. A shower was given at the home of Miss Ida Olsen last week in honor of Miss Marinda Vance. A very pleasant evening was spent and dain-tv dain-tv refreshments were served. A number of handsome presents were given. Sunday evening a linen shower was given at the home of Miss Lestie Stewart in honor of Miss Vance. A large number of boys and girls were present. Delicious refreshments were served. Henry Brady and Miss Marinda Vance were married in the Salt Lake Temple Wednesday Oct. 2nd. Miss Edna Miner of this city and James Larsen of Mt. Pleasant were married there also the same day. They are among our most popular young people and we wish them success in their matrimonial career. , A dinner party was given at the home of Mrs. Albert Brady Sept. 2nth, in honor of her son Henry and his intended bride. An excellent dinner'was served. Over thirty persons per-sons were present and an enjoyable time was had. Miss Selma Graham has taken the place vacated by Miss Marinda Vance in the employ of Fairview Merc. Co. Mrs. Bosen of Ephraim spent the past w-ek with her daughter, Mrs. Oscar Tucker. Mrs. Peterson of Ephraim is visiting visit-ing her daughter, Mrs. Cartilage. Born, to the wife of Bruce Cox, a boy, Sept.-19. Mrs. H. Wilson, who has spent the past eight mcnuis with her daughters. daugh-ters. Mrs. Andr"w Lesson und Mrs. Johnny Mow r Sr., ret ained io her home in Ariz ma this week. Company D made a good record at the contest held at Fort Douglas by the State Militia on Saturday and Sunday. Corporal Reynolds scored 221 which entitled him to a prize of ten dollars. The company's score was as follows: fol-lows: Corporal Reynolds, 221; Private Davidsen, 15;-!; Lieutenant Christen-sen, Christen-sen, 141; Private Jensen. 199; Sergeant Ser-geant Nielson, 193; Lieutenant Boy-den, Boy-den, 160; total 1067. Company B of Ogden won the marsksmanship honors of the day There total being 1375 in a possible 1800. The team selected from the National Na-tional Guard Sunday proved its superiority su-periority over a picked team from the crack shots of the Twentieth Infantry, In-fantry, stationed at Fort Douglas. The final score of the Guard was 998; the Infantry making 951. In this meet Corporal Reynolds scored 171 which entitled him to another prize of nine dollars. Capt. Braby was unable to attend the meet on account of sickness, otherwise oth-erwise Company D would have won more honors. |
