Show Pioneer Notes 39th Birthday Mrs. Anne Porter Nelson, a member of the original band of pioneers who settled Mt. Pleasant Pleas-ant in 1859, was honored by her family and many friends Thursday Thurs-day in observance of her 89th birthday. . , , She was born in Provo, Jan. IS, 1856 and came to Mt. Pleasant, then Fort Hambleton, with her parents, James Buchanan and Mary Anne Leslie Porter, with the earliest settlers, in 1859. She was maried to A. P. Nelson, prominent farmer, wool grower and cattleman cattle-man in 1875, and they were the parents of eleven children. Mr. Nelson died in November, 1918. Her children are Mrs. O. L. Winters, Cannon, Obed and Edgar Ed-gar Nelson of Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. i William Matson and George Nelson Nel-son of San Francisco, Hugh Nelson Nel-son of Spring City, and Miss Helen A. Nelson of Denver. She has 25 grandchildren. She has five grandsons and a granddaughter grand-daughter in the U. S. service. |
