They were cachp resented with a gold ring, by their sons and daughters, daugh-ters, as a token of love and esteem. The presentation was made by tiro:. on Elmer P. Madsen. During the course of the dinner, reminiscences . f the early life of the happy couple cou-ple were told by Judge George Chns eiisen of Price. Alter dinner the guests repaired to the main auditorium where ihe .allowing program was given: "Put n Your Old Gray Bonnet," was sung by the grandchhildren; cornet solo, Welby Boyden; violin and saxophone sax-ophone duet, Reva and Beth Mad-sen; Mad-sen; reading, Renee Vorheese; Dan-sir Dan-sir reading, Judge George Chris-tensen; Chris-tensen; several old time songs were rendered by James Monsen of Mt. pleasant. At the close of tne program the dinner guests were escorted to the Armada where the dance was in progress. 500 guests were entertained enter-tained at the dance, where punch and cookies were served. Each guest was presented with a piece ot wedding cake as a souvenir. Those attending from out of town were Bishop and -irs. Hans P. M. Smith of Salt Lake City; Mr. and Mrs. C. N. Madsen of St. Anthony, Idaho; Mrs Sarah H. Peterson of Logan, Mr. and Mrs. James Monsen, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Monsen, Mr. and Mrs. O. M. Aid-rich, Aid-rich, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Johan-sen, Johan-sen, Mrs Boon Monsen, all or Mt. Pleasant; Judge George Christensen of Price, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Jorgen-sen Jorgen-sen of Ephraim. Mr. J. C. Madsen was born in Vorup, Randers Co., Denmark, the 27th of March, 1851, the son of Niels Madsen and Mette Maria Christensen. He-emigrated to America Am-erica with his parents in 1863, settling set-tling in Manti. He has been a prorninent stock grower and fanner and has also been interested in the mercantile business as well as civic affairs. For 15 years he was director and treasurer of thhe Cooperative Sheep years, and was president .of the years manager of that organiation. He served as city councilman for 8 Herding Company and was for 5 Farmers Implement and Hardware j Company for nine years. ! Mrs. J. C. Madsen was born in Salt Lake City, January 13, 1857, the daughter of Peter Monson and .j.ii-otny Marie Christensen. She moved to Mt. Pleasant when but a small girl and resided htere until her marriage to Mr. Madsen. She has been prominent in religious activities ac-tivities in the L. D. S. Church, all her life, having been one of the first omcres in the organization now Known as the Mutual Improvement Association, in Mt. Pleasant. Since her marriage to Mr. Madsen, Mad-sen, she has been an active member mem-ber in the church in her ward, serving serv-ing as first counciler in thhe Relief Society of the South ward of Man-to Man-to for ten years. Mr. and Mrs. Madsen were married mar-ried in the Endowment House at Salt Lake City, May 27th, 1880. They have five living children and 23 grandchildren. Their children are: Parley C. Madsen, Clarence N. Madsen, Mad-sen, Elmer P. Madsen, Aileen M. Voorheese, Ruby M. Boyden. |
