Show Death of Christian Madsen While at work in the field and without any warning whatever, Christian Madsen of this city was stricken with heart failure and cMed Saturday August 31, 1912. Seemingly Seeming-ly he had been in tne Lest of health and his death came as a shock to bis family and the community. Mr. Madsen was born in Svinni ge Osherred, Denmark, December 30, 1847. He became a member of the Latter Day Saints church being baptized bap-tized at the age of eight years and immigrated to Utah with his parents in the year 1856, and crossed the plairs in Capt. Hogget's company. His father died enroute at Devil's Gate, Missouri. The company suffered suf-fered considerable hardships, but Mr. Madsen and - his mother were brought to Utah by relief teams sent from Salt Lake City. "While a young man he spent one winter working on the St. George i Temple, during the course of its erection. In 1876 he responded to a call to settle in Arizona but later re turned to reside in Mount Pleasant. He also filled a two years' mission to ! Scandinavia and a Iso many Ecclt sias-tical sias-tical and Civil offices at home He served as aCitv Councilman for two , terms from 1908 to 1912. j He was proceeded to the grave by Ibis fiVst wife, Mrs. Hannah Lind-strom Lind-strom Madsen and daughter Amanda, Aman-da, and also by the following chil-: chil-: dren of the second marriage: Dennis, Den-nis, Obed, Warren and Oliver. ' He is survived by a widow, Mrs Mary O. Madsen and the following children: Mrs. Byron Carter, Mrs. Joseph Matson, and son Parley, besides be-sides a host of relatives and friends to mourn his departure. I Buneral services were held in the North Ward meeting house Wednesday Wednes-day at 2 o'clock. Pres. Peter Mat-sen, Mat-sen, Pres. C. N. Lund. Thos. West and Bishop H. C. Jacobs were the .speakers.
