Show SUGAR FACTORY. DAY WILL BE OBSERVED AUGUST 29th. N. G. Stririijham, secretary of the Peoples Sugar Company, has been spending the last few weeks in Sanpete San-pete and Juab counties, looking after the interests of the company, in building a beet loading station at Spring City, and one at Nephi. Work has also commenced at Sterling Sterl-ing upon an unloading platform. All this work being for the accomodation accomoda-tion and convenience of those who grow beets for the company. Arrangements have been comlel.ed for Sugar Factory Day, Friday, August 29th. 1919. The celebration celebra-tion of the third anniversary of the organization of the Peoples Sugar Company. The company invites all who are interested in growing beets, and especially those residing within the field of operation of this company, to participate in a day of pleasure and' profit. A program will be carried out which will undoubtedly un-doubtedly be a source of enlightenment enlighten-ment to beet growers and others with respects to the magnitude of the sugar making business, and the importance of the . sugpr beet industry. in-dustry. The program, thus far de cided upoa, is as follows: 10 A. M. Assembling at Factory, viewing buildings and grounds. 11 A. M. Band concert in the warehouse, Ephraim Mountain Echo Band and Moroni Indian War Veteran Vet-eran Military Band in attendance. 12 o'clock, Barbecue (Bring your own drinking cups.) 1 P. M. Visiting beet fields. Practical Prac-tical demonstration of best methods of growing svy;ar beets. 2:30 P. M. MORONI TABEKNACLE Selection by the band. The Peoples Sugar Company, Geo. E. It is stated that the Peoples Sugar Company has paid out approximately $2,000,000 for its plant and equipment, equip-ment, for sugar beets and salaries since organization. The purpose of this celebration day is to demonstrate that more money can be made growing sugar beets than any other crop. The planted acreage for this factory the past three years nas oeen as follows: 1917 1918 1919 Acres 3S00 3250 3400 Six thousand ( 6.000) acres of beets are needed to operate this factory to capacity. The company officials and its field men have commenced com-menced a campaign to secure six thousand acres of contracts for 1920. and are asking each individual how-much how-much he can help. The company declares that to make more money, grow more beets. Prizes are offered by the company for the laivjest beet exhibited on Celebration Day; and state that the beets exhibited in competition must be taken from a patch of. at least, one-half ( 1'2 ) acre of beets. Prize beets must be delivered to the factory fac-tory before 11 A. M. August 2 9 th, 1919. Prizes are as follows: 1st. Prize $5.00 2nd. Prize $2.50 and 3rd. Prize $1.00. |
