Show COUNTY YOUNG PEOPLE WIN HONORS AT CALIF LIVE STOCK SHOW the following letter was handed us by county agent sharp and we wd publish it tor for the purpose of proving the great inte interest iest which our girls arid and boys of the county are taking in dub club work we are indeed proud of the showing they hav davs made at the fairs and the lionor honor that they have brought to their county their state and tham themselves selve woodland utah nov 8 1930 mr sharp county agent Co coalville alville utah dear mr sharp after our loss of 0 home and store by fire on tle ath of july I 1 wondered what I 1 could do dc to occupy my tiel time le my b other suggested to me that I 1 might feece a steer or two in an for foi the junior livestock and baby beel beef show to be held on the and of october at south san francisco 1 Z with ith this four months notice I 1 purchased c hase t two wo steers from my father which had already been on feed for a time they were in gool goo condition and improved very much in the four months during chich I 1 jook took care of them no having any emerien e in feeding I 1 worked in coine ion with my brothers ammi and clair I 1 i who were also feeding calves in athis this way we ve v e could coul dhel help each other and none of us had to be with them their all the time IV elook five of our calves calve S to the utah state fair and while we had very little competition it did much to quiet them down so thy they would feed better for the later sha shai i all ali the utah ek hibits were shipped together for the california show which consisted of one ste to be shown by J fred skinner of spanish fork one grads grade hereford lie reford steer to be shown b bill ellis of north salt lake tace purebred hereford steers by cli v winterton and two by luella winterton Winter to tD i 1 the trip was very interesting arid and educational mr W E stephens formerly a club leader of utah and manager of the junior livestock and baby beef show did everything in his power to show tha khz drib members along with the pare ils a real enjoyable time free reservations were made for the glas girls and their mothers at the bellevue Bel levus hotel while the boys and eter fathers were taken care of at th fair 1 grounds in a large pavilion I 1 our meals were given to us at reduced prices a the prizes which we won pleased us very much clair won vion the ham pion ship of the her heri f fords ovIs the price of this steer being 10 00 per hundred my one steer won place over its class and I 1 received 2503 per hundred for it our cotil winnings in prize mony amounted to 00 and the price we I 1 deceive d out of the five calve amounted to clair also won first place for showmanship A prize being offered all the exhibits were sold on the grounds the packers arid and butchers of san FFrancis co and nearby towns were very loyal and put up money amounting to over tor for the purchasing ot this stock I 1 would like to see more boys and girls from utah take an interest in this show for I 1 know of no other way better than that tha of letting the stock pay your way as well as its own expenses yours LUELLA WINTERTON |
