officially sponsor Scouting in America Now the church is planning its 75th anniversary observance of that formal affiliation and on Sunday February 14 1988 thousands of Scouts and Scouts will gather at hundreds of locations throughout the country for a special “fireside” or It will be commemoration program transmitted live via satellite to some 800 Saint Stake Centers throughout every state A Conservation Reserve can Program Cropland in classes now be converted to permanent vegetative cover if they are eroding at an annual rate of two times the rate of soil replacement or greater and are planted with trees Another change which applies only to tree planting is field predominance Under new rules only of a field need be eroding at the new annual rate of two times the rate of soil replacement or greater to be eligible for tree planting Also cropland adjoining streams lakes or other water bodies may now be included in the CRP without meeting highly erodible criteria The Conservation Reserve Program is a federally sponsored program which removes highly erodible cropland from production through conversion to permanent cover vegetative Eligible farmers are offered cost share assistance for planting practices and land rental payments for ten years The next CRP sign up period is 1988 at all Utah February Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service offices For Ideas on July and August themes Fremont Indian State Park looking for volunteer guides In an effort to better serve the visitors to the newly created Fremont Indian State Park we are looking for people who would be willing to donate one or two days a week to work as park Gorguides said Park Superintendent don Topham Training would be given in communication skills and the natural and cultural history of the canyon with training about the Fremont Indians and theories of the purpose of rock art Also training will provide information about the recreational opportunities of Utah as a whole and the surrounding area specifically Topham went on to say that these volunteer guides would be involved in information desk operations as museum tour guides and as guides on short interperative walks We would like to have the names of those interested in being involved in this program by late February as we anticipate an organizational meeting in with training offered early March sometime in March said Topham Topham went on to say we hope to offer these services to the visitors as demand demonstrates from Easter through September The archaeological information about the Fremont Indian is dynamic and exciting The opportunity to learn about this mysteriously missing culture and to share that information with others should be personally rewarding to all those involved both as guides and
