Show POLITICAL POINTERS. Before the next issue of tbe Chronicle Chron-icle Is out the election will be over and we expect to be able to publish pretty full returns. More Interest huh been taken In this campaign than jjln any since the free sliver carapatn of 1896. Nationally It la a foregcjne conclusion that Wilson will be elected, and yet Republicans are trying jto scare the people Into thinking tit some great calamity will happen I if Wilson Is elected. But in spite Vf this certainty buslneas remains goed, money Is plenty, the railroads handling an Immense business and H the industries are working full time. Evidently the business Interests re not afraid that they will be hurt by Wilson. V Utnh will probably go Republican, but the opinion seems to be that tuajj Democrats and Progreaslves will fjij elected. We hope this is so, for p would be a good thing for the Republicans Republi-cans to have a strong opposition In t ie state. They have had their own w, i too long and baye become arrogant" ti tbelr power. A good, fepreer-ta.tle of p rneve;a.nd Pen- - "-f ii t e tors to make some concessions to the popular demand for a larger participation partici-pation in government by the people. Millard county has a great many voters who favor these reforms. Tbe only way tbey can secure them Is to vote for either the Democratic or Progressive Pro-gressive candidates for the legislature. They are pledged for It and their party Is pledged for It. Now is tbe time to show whether personal liking or a matter of principle is stronger. It haa been whispered around that A. A. Kimball, t he Democratic candidate candi-date Is to withdraw. Mr. Kimball stated to C. W. Watts that be knew nothing of any such rumor and that he Is In the fight till after the election Is over. Attorney Melville should get the solid vote of Millard county for judge of this district. He Is a Millard county man, but If he were not thoroughly thor-oughly qualified this would be an insufficient in-sufficient reason. But in addition to this he Is thoroughly qualified. He stands high In his profession, has a character above reproach and Is a public spirited and progressive citizen. He will alao get a large vote In the other counties and Is pretty sure ot election. County officers are business not political po-litical positions and the candidates should be judged solely on their merits m good business men. The Chronicle ha not taken sides with any of these candidates as the editor thinks the voters are aa well or jierhaps better qualified to Judge In this matter as he h. Several of tbe officers are up for re-election and w think that where they have made a good record their experience makes them better qualified quali-fied than new men. All parties have made a clean cara-ulgn cara-ulgn In the county and very little ill reeling has been shown. Men have leen In earnest for their candidates liut no ersonalitles have been In-lulged In-lulged In. so that when the election Is ver men can shske bands with their I jrponents and be as good friend as I ver. We hope everybody will turn I ut and vote next Tuseday. The man ho Is too Indifferent to vote at this t 'lection deserve to have tbe fran- hie taken away from him. I i |
