Elder will be conducted in the Oak City ward chapel Sunday, Dec. 3, at 2 p.m. by Arthur L. Cahoon Post 89, American Legion. Pfc. Elder El-der was killed in action in Korea July 11, 1950, and was the first reported Utah casualty. He was born in Oak City Jan. 12, 1931, a son of Parley and Maggie Mag-gie Rawlinson Elder. He was attending at-tending Delta high school when he enlisted in January, 1948, and his basic training was taken at Fort Ord, Calif. He went overseas June, 1948, and was stationed in Japan. He was expected home in July when his outfit was ordered to Korea. He was with the Third Engineers Con bat Battalion, U. S. Army. Surviving are his parents in Oak City, and six sisters; Mrs. Audrey Twitchell, Cannon ville, Utah; Mrs. Fern Anderson, Murray; Mrs. Rhea McCormick and Mrs. Eva Brad-field, Brad-field, Delta; Mrs. Ruby Skeem and Mrs. Emily Justesen, Oak City. |
