Show LaVenia Moody Funeral Services Funeral services were held in the Hinckley Ward Chapel on Wednesday, Wednes-day, January 7, for LaVerna Wright Moody, who died at her home on Sunday, January 4. Roy Hilton of the bishopric conducted the services. ser-vices. The services began with the Ward Choir singing "My Father Knows" and invocation by Don Bishop. The Seventys quartet, Ladd Crop-peiv Crop-peiv Cluff Talbot, Blaine Spendlove and Orlando Hepworth then sang "Face to Face". This was followed follow-ed by a talk from Margaret Jensen, Jen-sen, who gave many episodes to demonstrate with what kindness and influence Sister Moody had for those around her and how she influenced in-fluenced all to do good who associated as-sociated with her. Because of the loving spirit in the home, children and adults alike enjoyed coming to the home to share in this spirit. Margeret's talk was followed by a violin solo "Forgotten" by Norma Nor-ma Hannifin, accompanied by May Cropper. Grace Warnick was the next speaker, who told of the younger days of Mrs. Moody's life, of her school days, both when she was attending at-tending it herself and when she was teaching. She stated that Mrs. Moody was always a great teacher, whether she was in the school room or not, as she always helped others whenever she could. Mrs. Warnick mentioned what a beautiful girl LaVerna had been and commented comment-ed upon how talented she was, mentioning in particular her beautiful beau-tiful voice and the singing she had done in her life, adding beauty to others lives. "Prayer Perfect" was hung by Ladd Cropper and the final speaker speak-er wnc Prociont TTarlH AniMie who also told of the earlier days in her life, stating that he and LaVerna had been in the same crowd and had known each other well. President Morrist related how Mrs. Moody had always been an influence for the good. If the crowd was tempted to do wrong, it was LaVerna who influenced them to do good. The closing song was sung by the choir, it being, "Look to the Comforter" and closing prayer was offered by Hugh Hilton. Burial was in the Hinckleyem-etery Hinckleyem-etery under the direction of L. N. Nickle and sons, with President Ward Moody dedicating the grave. Mrs. Mathilda Erickson, of Grant-sville, Grant-sville, has been visiting for several weeks in Delta with her son, Norman Nor-man Erickson, and family. Mrs. Erickson will be 87 years old next June. She is returning to Salt Lake City Sunday, where she now makes her home. |
