Show Stringham Wins GOP Nomination Mayor B. H. Stringham of Vernal, was an easy winner Tuesday Tues-day in the run-off primary election elec-tion for the nomination of a Republican Re-publican candidate for representative representa-tive in congress from the first district. Complete figures for the district have not been tabulated but indications are that he defeated de-feated William Peterson of Logan, former USAC extension director, by a substantial margin, In Beaver Bea-ver county Stringham beat Peterson Peter-son by more than 3 to 1. Returns for all voting districts in the county are given elsewhere on this page and they show some I unusual angles. For instance, ' Milford district No. 1, with a vot- j ing population about three times I the size of No. 2, was outvoted by j the latter district, which includes ! many voters living out of town. I Peterson ran strongest in the smaller communities, Minersville,! Greenville and Adamsville. In the' latter place he was outvoted by a single tally. Mayor Stringham will now oppose op-pose Congressman Walter Granger of Cedar City in the November election. Mrs. Stringham, ' incidentally, inci-dentally, is a second cousin to Mrs. M. H. Pool of Milford. |
