Show MINERSVILLE Miss Lola Roberts returned home Monday of last week from Copperton where she has been teaching school. Mrs. Alta Bonner and children of Nada, called on relatives here Wednesday. Wed-nesday. M. J. Warr of Beaver called on friends here Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. D. F. Griffith and daughter Beverly of Lark, are guests at the Lillie Roberts home. Mr. iand Mrs. Stanley Beaumont and children of Beaver spent the week-end here. J. R. Williams called on friends here Friday. Mrs Randell Banks and son Burton and daughter Shannon spent Satur- j day at Parowan. Stanley McKnight spent Saturday at Wayne County. Mrs. Edna Mecham departed Sunday Sun-day for her home at Upalco after spending the past four months here with her children. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Albrecht spent the week-end at Fremont. They were accompanied home by her son Milton. Mrs. L. W. Blackburn visited relatives rela-tives and friends at Price, Utah for a few days. Mrs. Edwin Eyre and sons, Max and Bruce of Cowley, Wyoming, have been guests at the John Eyre home for several days. Mr. and Mrs. Emil Nowers jand children of Beaver spent Sunday here. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Wright and children have moved to Adamsville, where they will now reside. Mr. and Mrs. Angus White and young daughter Janet of Beaver were in town Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. John Hollingshead has as house guests, Mrs. Elmer Wood and children of Cedar City and James Hollingshead of Caliente, Nevada. Ne-vada. Mrs. Sarah Bohn has as guests at her home her daughters, Mrs. Beth White and Mrs. Geneva Williams of Los Angeles, Calif., and her grandson grand-son Billie White of Salt Lake was a week-end guest. School Notes The election of the next years student stu-dent body officers will be held next Thursday afternoon and Friday morning. On the basis of scoring points which the faculty decided upon for choosing the valedictorian for the class of 1932, Ruby Hardy was sel-ested sel-ested with a total score of 44.6250 points. Elaine Stoddard was second with 44.1875 points. Ida Hollingshead, of the fifth grade won in the Jack contest that was held in the grade school last week. Ida played a tie-off with Betty Banks from the second grade. The high school operetta, "Heartless "Heart-less House," was presented Wednesday Wednes-day night by the Ladies Glee Club under the direction of Mr. Isaacson. It was a huge success and was welcomed wel-comed by a large audience. I ADAMSVILLE Thomas Macaulay and Ruben Griffiths Grif-fiths both of Salt Lake City were in town Friday night. Lafe Bradshaw and two sons of Milford drove their cattle to Mander-field Mander-field stopping overnight Saturday at the home of Jasper Puffer and fam-ily. fam-ily. Ernest Joseph and wife, also his visitors at the home of Rube Joseph mother and father, all of Beaver were Thursday enroute to Milford. A candy party was enjoyed at the home of LaVern Littlefield Wednesday Wednes-day evening, six youngsters of ages between six and eight were present. Beatrice Griffiths and small daughter daugh-ter of Minersville spent Monday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Griffiths. Walter Blackner and family of Greenville have moved on the William Wil-liam Heslington ranch at Adamsville. Mrs. Lucille Smith and two small children of Salt Lake City are here visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Reese. A candy pull was enjoyed at the home of Drucilla Jones Thursday night. Ten young boys ,and girls were present. John Gunn has employed George Valentine to put in his crops while Mr. Gunn will finish teaching school. - I GREENVILLE A Bee Hive meeting was held at the home of Maxine Kesler. Songs were sung! and they talked about the cells. Those present at the meeting were: Raema, Ila, Esther and Hazel Barton, Nada Walbeck, Maxine Kesler, Kes-ler, Editha Williams, and Sara Fletcher. Flet-cher. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Walbeck and Mrs. Dan W. Barton motored to Milford Mil-ford on business Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Paice of Caliente, Nevada also Louise and Arthur Calvert Cal-vert who have been employed in Caliente Cal-iente visited at the home of their parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. William Calvert Wednesday. A birthday surprise party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Delmar Kesler in honor of their daughter, the occasion being her 14th birthday. Games were played and refreshments were served to the following people. Mrs. James Williams, Jr., from here was taken to the Milford hospital hospi-tal where she was operated on for appendicitis Thursday. It is reported that Mrs. Williams is getting along alright. A number of men spent Wednesday and Thursday working on the Barton ditch. Those that worked were: George, Ray and Mart Barton, James Williams, Jr., IDan A-tkin and Bill Blackett.' Mr. and Mrs. Walter Blackner and family moved to the William Heslington Hesling-ton place in Adamsville Thursday. Lorin Kesler of Milford spent Friday Fri-day and Saturday with his brother, Delmar Kesler helping him move to the Lower Valley. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Reese and children of Cedar City visited with Mrs. Reeses sister, Mrs. Arthur Blackner Sunday. Arthur Lightner of Minersville was in town on business Sunday. The officers and teachers of the Sunday school attended the convention conven-tion in Beaver Sunday. Ralph Hamilton of Beaver was in town Sunday. Elma Williams and Marjorie Atkin attended the dance given in Beaver Wednesday. Miss Sara Fletcher spent the weekend week-end at the home of her cousin, Miss Chloe Farrer of Beaver. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Atkin and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Rustin who have been at Scipio for some time called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. David Atkin Sunday on their way to Las Vegas. Mrs. Dora Bullock of Provo is visiting vis-iting at the home of her sister, Mr3. Jess Barton for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Blackner and family and Miss Lottie Murdock who recently moved to Adamsville spent Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Murdock. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hansen and children of Provo are spending a week or so at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jess H. Barton. Mr. and Mrs. D. J. Williams and James Williams, Jr., and children Clifford, Betty Jane and Helen Elaine went to Milford Sunday to see Mrs. Williams who was operated on for appendicitis Thursday. Helen remained re-mained in Milford with her mother. Miss Katherine Kirk, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Kirk of Milford spent Sunday at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. D. J. Williams. Chase Murdock of Beaver brought in a truck load of flour Monday night. It is to be distributed among those who need it. Bill Calvert, two year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Calvert is ill with bronchial pneumonia. Lena Barton spent Saturday and Sunday in Betiver visiting friends. BEAVER Mrs. Stella Puffer of North Creek spent Saturday at the Burt home with her mother, Mrs. Alma Powell, her grandma, Mrs. Nancy Burt and aunt, Miss Stella Burt who are recovering re-covering from a car accident they met with Friday while on their way to Cedar City. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Joseph and father John T. Joseph were visitors at Milford Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Edwards and children of Minersville spent Monday at Beaver with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Edwards. Miss Francis Woods of Minersville was the guest of her cousin and family fam-ily Mr. and Mrs. Otto Schwob Sunday. Sun-day. Mrs. John Gunn of Adamsville spent Friday at Beaver with friends. Mr. and Mrs. Jess Baker of Minersville Miners-ville were in town Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Walker and children of Cedar City spent the week-end here visiting with her mother, Mrs. Nancy Burt and sister Stella. Mrs. Ruben Anderson and little daughter Lucille returned Sunday from a two weeks visit at Boulder city with Mr. Anderson who has employment em-ployment there. Mr. and Mrs. R. 0. Jehu, who have been spending the winter in the east are now at their home in Sulphurdale to their many friends. Mrs. J. C. Tolton returned home Thursday from Logan where she has been spending the past two weeks with her daughter, Mrs. Wallace Goates and getting acquainted with her new grandson. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Bullock of Provo spent Monday and Tuesday, guests of Mrs. Bullock's brother, Blaine Blackett and wife. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hansen of Springville spent Monday and Tuesday Tues-day with Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Blackett. Black-ett. Bernard White, who has been in New Zealand for the past two years serving on a mission has been transferred trans-ferred to Portland, Oregon. Four other elders were transferred from New Zealand to serve in various fields. Mr. and Mrs. George Fernley and little son, Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Neil-son Neil-son of Milford spent Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Gus Fernley and attended at-tended the L. D. S. services. Mr. and Mrs. Sam White, accompanied accom-panied by Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Mes-singer Mes-singer spent Sunday afternoon in Milford and attended the L. D. S. services. ser-vices. Mr. and Mrs. Warren Fernley of Caliente spent from Wednesday until Friday guests of relatives. Miss Zola Fernley who is one of the teachers in Milford school spent Saturday and Sunday with her parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Fernley. Neil Boyter, Alton Swindlehurst and Louis Lessing spent Sunday at LaVerkin Hot Springs. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Pool of Milford Mil-ford spent Sunday afternoon guest of the Beaver Press. Geo. C. Murdock spent Tuesday morning in Milford. Mrs. Niels Jensen returned home Sunday from Salt Lake where she has been for the past week visiting relatives and attending conference. I. Lessing; Niels Jensen, Murray Bohn and Lue Bohn, left Tuesday for Osceola, Nevada, for a few days business trip. LeRoy Puffer left Sunday for Salt Lake where he will spend a few days on business. Ted Robinson and wife spent Friday Fri-day in Milford shopping. Douglas Robinson and Chloe Boy ter attended the picture show in Milford Mil-ford Sunday evening. Miss Lurena Burridge, accompanied accompan-ied by her mother, motored to Cedar City Saturday where Mr. and Mrs. E. N. Thompson and family joined them. They drove to Los Vegas and out to Boulder City. Miss Burridge and mother returned to their home Monday. Miss Zelma Pearce of Salt Lake spent Tuesday and Wednesday with her mother, Mrs. Lottie Pearce. Mrs. Will Blackner received a message mes-sage stating the death of her sister Jennie Hosman of Atchinson, Kansas who had passed away on the 6th. She was ill only a short time. The cause of her death being heart trouble. Having lived here twenty years ago, she had many friends who will be sorry to hear of her death. Mr. and Mrs. William Heslington and family, have moved from Adamsville Adams-ville to the Jimmy Thompson place on the Milford project. Elam Jackson spent the week-end with his father, Joe Jackson, at his Rocky Ford ranch. W. H. Hendrickson of Milford stopped stop-ped to greet a few business friends in Beaver Sunday on his return from a trip to St. George. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Parkinson and little daughter Deloris of Cedar were called to Beaver Monday night on account ac-count of the accident of their brother Delmar Parkinson. Mrs. Melisa Ashworth and little Kenneth Skinner motored over to Cedar Ce-dar City Saturday to visit with Mrs. Josie Skinner and Lloyd who is still in the hospital. They report that Lloyd is slowly recovering. Bishop Bird, Mr. and Mrs. Rue Neilson, Mr. and Mrs. George Fernley Fern-ley and son of Milford spent Sunday in Beaver attending the Sunday school convention. Charles Jameson, Vella Browner and Miss Frances Wood of Minersville Miners-ville were in Beaver Sunday. |
