I u .. - V I : is1 N Bert and Frances Smiihson, on their Wedding Day THE SMITHSON RANCH was the scene of a beautiful home weddinp at high noon Thursday, Oct. 2nd, which united two prominent prom-inent pioneer families of Southern South-ern Utah. In a charming f utumnal setting set-ting in the spacious living room of the o!d ranch home, Mrs. Frances Jefferson and J. Bert Smithson exchanged wedding promises. To the soft strains of Mendelssohn's Mendel-ssohn's Wedding March, the bride, on the arm of her brother-in-law, George Jefferson, was presented to the groom. Her only attendant was her daughter. Mrs. Barbara Peterson, as matron mat-ron of honor. Jim Smithson performed best man duties for his bro'her. The bride, wore an original brown wool suit with pold and brown accessories and camelia corsage. Her daughter was attired at-tired in a Hunter's green wool afternoon dress with brown accessories ac-cessories and pink rose corsage. The brief and impressive marriage mar-riage ceremony was read by Judge O. C. Koch. Mrs. Anna Rae Carter played the wedding march . Dan Ferguson, accomoanied by his sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Martin, Mar-tin, sang "Because" and "My Little Lit-tle Gray Home in the West." After the ceremony, a small reception was held with the cutting cut-ting of the wedding cake by the bride and groom. Cake and coffee were served in the dining room, Mrs. C. W. Mathews and Mrs. George Jefferson attending the guests. Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Grayson served punch on the front porch to the guests assembled as-sembled on the lawn. Mrs. Ca'herine Smithson For-gie, For-gie, Miss Lee Smithson and Mrs. Ursula Smithson Kesler assisted in the receiving line and Mrs. Dora Smithson presided at the guest list table. Mrs. Allene i Jefferson attended the gift table. I Mrs. Cree Elmer, Mrs. Jennie Martin, Mrs. Mabel Turner and j Mrs. Dee Ferguson assisted in j serving the guests. Mrs. Minnie Smithson Palmer, i only living member of the older Smithson family, aunt of the groom, and Mrs. Jennie Smith, lifetime friend of both families, were honored guests. About sixty relatives and close friends were in attendance. Out-of-town relatives who arrived ar-rived for the wedding were: Mrs. C. W. Mathews, , Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Tobe Kesler, Walnul Creek, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Harr Forgie, Los Angeles, Cal.; Miss Lee Smithson Sn Francisco, Cal.; Mr. and, Mrs. Bob Grayson and son Danny, Portland, Ore.: Mrs. Minnie Palmer, Portland, Ore.: Mrs. Barbara Peterson, Nevada Ne-vada City, Cal.; Mrs. C. A. Moore, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Elsie Norton and Mrs. Earl Rickard, Nevada City; Mrs. Elizabeth Martin, Los Angeles. The wedding- cake was made and decorated by Earl Rickard, Nevada City. Cal. Mr. and Mrs. Smithson, affectionately affec-tionately known as "Bert and Frances" to their host of friends, enjoyed a wedding trip to Northern North-ern California, and are now at home to their many friends at the Smithson Ranch. |
