Although Midvale was given an even chance to win the game Sunday off .the Edwards cla,n, she failed by two tallies to make the grade. After gathering enough runs off the Copper nine in the first eight innings to tie the league leaders, the locals made some costly errors in the ninth inning which coupled with four timely hits by Copper, gave the leaders a.n 11 to 9 win over the new entry in the league. '1'hough Midvale made a closing rally in th(! final frame, the three runs that it chased across the plate were not suf ficiprrt to overcome the lead that the b~s from up on the hill had establish /~ with five runs in its half of the ninth. Midvale outhit the w~ners, getting eleven safe bingles to Copper's nine, Batting honors of the day went to Midvale sluggers. Hal Egbert, Midvale shortstop, who has been hitting the ball at a lively clip throughout the season, had a field day( getti,ng three clouts out of his four trips to the plate two of them traveling far and away for four bases. L. Larson, who pitched eight innings for Midvale, showed that pitchers can also gather in base hits by connecting for a home run and a single i,n his three turns at the plate. Three Copper batsmen were among the home-run hitters, Norek, Hepting, and Ames each taking a complete trip around the bags. Midvale has been showing improvement in each game. In Sunday's game a little u.nsteadiness in the infield pro bably accounted for loss of the game.
