In the working world, what values do you think employers believe are important? Listed below are values that employers search for in their employees. Which would you guess is the number one value wanted in an employee? Choose from the following list the top three values that employers look for. Ambitious Broadminded Capable Cheerful Clean Courageous Forgiving Helpful Honest Imaginative Independent Intelligent Logical Obedient Polite Responsible A national study was done of 1,460 American managers to ask them what values they believed were most important in the workplace (Whettcn and Cameron, Developing Man- CVtllc 1QQM PoniKU Imaginative, Logical, and Responsible were very high on the list selected by the managers. The highest on the list, however, was Honesty. Isnt it interesting that employers chose honesty as the most important. There are many occasions when we are faced with the issue of honesty. In school there is always the temptation to cheat. Cheating happens very often in high school. Cheating on a test, talking about the test when the teacher leaves the room, and looking on someone else s paper are all forms of dishonesty. Cheating also includes borrowing another persons assignment and copying it down to be prepared for the day. S luffing, lying to teachers about preparation, and plagiarizing a paper are also dishonest. In our association with should try to be honwe friends, est. Many times I believe we do not realize we are being dishonest in our relationships when we actually are. For example, how many times have you been asked to do something with a friend, but you did not want to go with them. Instead of telling them the truth, did you make up a reason for not going, such as, I need to help my mom, or I will be out of town? Dishonesty can also in- crwH limit running a stop sign, not return-in- g excess change which was given to you by accident, and telling your parents you are going to a friends house when actually you are going to go to the movie. Dishonesty can hurt ourselves and hurt others. Being honest all of the time in all circumstances is something that is hard for most people. I believe, if w e continually work to become an honest person, we will be respected by others. If we are honest in all things, we will be less likely to hurt the feeling of others by the things we say or do. And, after all, if bm . JmbM XftXdMudl Amy Baker During time out by:Jon Baker Recently, one of our own, Amy Baker had the op- portunity of traveling to Colchester, Vermont to partake of the fruits that a school there had to offer. Amy went to live with her sister, Jill and her husband, Jerry Johnson. of school, Amy enjoyed getting together with friends and going to the beach. She also went to see movies, play miniature golf and shop at the mall. When asked why she came home to graduate instead of staying there, Amy replied, I want to graduate with my friends. A large variety of classes and teachers were offered on a lock schedule (Half classes one day, the other half the next day). The equality of sports fame was practiced, and with all of the sports available it wouldnt be hard to get involved. Miss Mansfield? Then their is Mrs. Nielson. Always with a high spirit, she tries to help anyone who is having difficulties. She has to be the most patient person on earth! All the teachers in M.H.S. are awesome (Mrs. Liddell, Mr. a 6 mch'amdl a medium drunk get. a 6 inch absolutely by:Luciano Pereira Six months are gone! Manti High School has been wonderful. This is a place with a warm environment and cool people that will remain a unforgettable part of my life forever. The teachers are lovely and friendly with their students! Two names come to mind, Mr. and Mrs. Good. They are the best! Or think about this, have you ever had a teacher so happy and funny as J Dettinger . . .)! Now imagine our principal. Mr. Peterson has one goal: Help his students! He is so friendly and seems so happy walking around the hall, always trying to help someone. He is such a good man! We should be thankful for all he has done. In closing, the best part of MHS is you. MHS has great school spirit! Everyone just loves it here! All the people are so fun and friendly! You guys are so cool! My trip would would have never be the same if I didnt come to MHS ! Thanks everyone! You guys are DA BOMB! m |
