As an Ephraimite of sorts, I recently read an article in the Ute Bulletin concemingthe Ute Council tree in Delta, Utah. This tree, a cottonwood, is over 200 years old and was a gathering spot for Ute Indians for many years. The tree was damaged when a large limb fell This prompted the American F Association to take cuttings from the tree to grow into seedlings, thus preserving the tree for future generations. I live behind Ephraim Pioneer Park. I have noticed that the Treaty Tree"isgettingolder. I think this tree will mean a lot to future historians. I feel this tree should live on for many more years. I propose that cuttings be taken from this tree, so that it too, might live on. This project would be one worthy of consider-ationb- y numerous organizations, Snow Colleges Botany Department, the Sanpete County Historical Society andEphraim City, to name a few. or-est- ry ' . I think the preservation of this tree thus far has been wonderful Those who have been involved in this work are to be commended. However, we must look to the future and try to bring Treaty Tree" with us as we move forward.
