Considering the extraordinary efforts of the Democrats, the victory of the Republicans is most complete. Factional differences in the Republican ranks led to a reasonable reas-onable doubt as to the result, and the Socialistic element was a feature that had not been reckoned with heretofore. The small figure that either cut is most surprising. Anderson ran behind his ticket fully 50 votes, a peculiar feature; and Mrs. Ornisby failed to pull up with Mrs. Cardon. Farr was the weak man on the ticket, and was 100 behind. At the time of going to press it was impossible to obtain ex-aci ex-aci figures on Socialists candidates. SMITHFIELD FOR G. 0. P.
