Show OBITUARY Wellsvllle, April 19. Sarah Owen, Muughau, 49 years of ngo who dlod of pneumonia and heart trouble April 11, was born In Wellsvlllo, Utah, October Oc-tober 2, 1803. Her puronts woro Evan nnd Elizabeth Eliza-beth Owen, who settled In Wellsvlllo Wells-vlllo in 1SC0. Sho was tho first of a family of eight children. Her early life was opont In school bIio being ono of tho early graduates of tho Hrlgham Young Collcgo. Sho attended whon tho collcgo was located lo-cated In tho old Llndqulst Hall. At tho age of 21, she married John H . Maughan, son of Dlshop Maughan of Wellsvlllo. Sovon children woro born, flvo of whom now survlvo hor. It was when her two oldest children had finished their district school work at Wolls-vlllo Wolls-vlllo and wanted to contlnuo their educational work that thoy moved to this city. This was in 190G. On coming to Logan sho Immediately Immedi-ately became Interested In "nellef Society So-ciety work ns sho had previously dono In "Wellsvllle, where sbo was secretary for eighteen years." Sho labored diligently nnd successfully In tho Ilellef work until hor death. Sister Maughan had been allldg for a long tlmo and was suffering from heart trouble nnd kldnoy, , roublo when she was stricken with pneumonia. pneumo-nia. Sho suffered Intenso pain during dur-ing hor week of Illness preeodlng her death. It was a sudden shock to all. Tho funeral services were held at Wellsvlllo on Thursday April 15 nt 2 p. in. Short family services wore held In Logan In tho forenoon at 9 o'clock at tho family resldenco, aftor which a procession followed tho henrso to Wellsvlllo, Tho floral display was -fcry beau-ttful, beau-ttful, llowors coming from friends and rclatlvos from many outside towns. Illshop D. G. Thatcher of Logan First ward presided, assisted b'y Dish-op Dish-op Ounncll of Wellsvlllo. "I Need Theo Ever Hour," "O My Father," and "Sometime Wo'll Understand," was beautifully rondored by tho Wellsvlllo choir. Miss Carrlo Thomas, Thom-as, accompanied by Patience Thatcher Thatch-er and S. E. Clark, sang "O Dry Those Tears." James J. Allen ot Wellsvlllo. sang "Face to Faco." nnd Ilostoo Hess of Logan sang "Nearor My C-od to Theo." Remarks woro'mado by W.t.H. Maughan, Congressman Jpsephllbw-oil, Jpsephllbw-oil, W. W. Maughan, S. -D. MItton, Prost. Parkinson of Hyrura stako, F. W. Fishburn of Drlgham City, E. II. Owon and Dlshop Thatcher, all of whom mentioned tho fact that Mrs. Maughan was ot a most atmlable disposition, dis-position, loving, tender, considerate, self sacrificing and ChrUt llko.. Invocation was offered by Dlshop Gunnoll nnd benediction by Elder Goorgo Perkins. Tho grnvo was lined lu white nnd decorated with English Ivy and car- nntlons and was dedicated by Peter M. Maughan. Tho pall hearers woro Dlshop Dlrd of Meudon, Oliver Owen, Cyril Owen, George Hnslam, Earl Maughan and Wilford Maughan. Thoro woro nbout 800 relatives and friends who attended tho services. |
