Show HURRICANE AT WELLSVILLE. W. F. Darley, Esq., the efficient postmaster of Wellsville, called in our sanctum last Wednesday, and informed us that, on the previous Saturday, that town was visited by a wind storm that amounted to a hurricane. Trees a foot in circumference were uprooted, and stacks were demolished. Our informant had a number of acres of hay cut but not hauled. The wind cleaned it up as clean as a collection plate after the parson has clutched it, and conveyed it no man knows whither. In fact that hay is as much like a sectarian's God as anything can be-nowhere. Considerable damage was done to various kinds of property by the wind. |
