Show RAILROAD GRADERS IDLE. Over a month ago large numbers of men and trains commenced arriving along the line of the branch of the Union Pacific railroad now being constructed from Granger to Oregon. The line for the grade was staked out and work was commenced on it, when, as we are informed, employees of the Central Pacific arrived on the spot, claimed the same right of way that was being utilized by the U.P., and a lawsuit was the result pending which the workmen have been idle two or three weeks. A large number of men and teams from Bear Lake have thus lost from one to three weeks' time, and it would be well for all parties who contemplate going to work on that road to wait until they are sure of having work when they arrive, before they start. We understand that among the forced idlers were a number of them from Cache Valley. We are not able to learn whether the deadlock is broken yet or not, and would advise railroaders not to start until they find out. |
