Show BEES. Editor Leader:-As there are many in Cache County who are thinking of purchasing bees, I would say that this month and part of the next is the time to buy. The reason is, that the buyer gets mostly new made swarms, strong and healthy, that will get used to their new home before winter. They can be bought cheaper now than in the spring. The last winter has been very hard on bees; we have suffered losses but it has given us an experience that we won't forget. We intend to be prepared for any winter. I am always on hand to give information on bee culture, for we are easily behind the times in this county. I want to see plenty of bees in here to gather the tons of honey that are now going to waste. Yours respectfully, Geo. Hibbard, Apiarist. Logan, Aug. 16, 1880. SETTING of a Keystone in the Temple. Editor Leader:-The ages of the world have been diversified with ?? events and incidents. So also has been the peculiar history of the Latter-day Saints; prominent events have been signalized by some unusual characteristic. In more modern times, history is replete with incidents and events made famous in proportion to their importance to mankind, and the celebrity of those who were and are the actors, as may be instanced in the marked career of Queen Isabella, of Spain, in connection with the discovery of this continent, and the introduction of the arts and sciences by their devotees and patrons. The inauguration of great enterprises is distinguished from the common events of life by magnificent and imposing ceremonies, as is frequently witnessed in the United States and in Europe; as for instance the laying of the Atlantic cable; the corner ?? and foundations of great buildings; the breaking up of ground for railroads and canals, &c. Prominent among the events of our generation has been the restoration of the Everlasting Gospel and the holy priesthood, the doctrine of Temples, and of baptism for the dead. In connection with this event has been the building of three temples and other three in course of erection in our times. In the course of the erection of those temples already finished, doubtless many incidents are recorded as is also the case of those in course of erection, and yet we have not heard of a lady participating in the physical labors of those buildings. Yesterday an incident transpired worthy of note upon the Logan Temple, which in the estimation of many, may fall beneath, in importance, the stirring events of the age, but to the Latter-day Saints it is fraught with vital interest, for every rock that is put in place, every trowelful of mortar that is added, every nail that is driven, every puff of the engine that hoists material of any kind to the top of the walls, proclaims and attests the growth of the House of the Lord, the completion of which is anxiously waited for by thousands of throbbing hearts who are eager to officiate for themselves and the dead. The incident in question was the setting in place of the keystone in the arch of the second large window of the east end of the Temple, by Sister Harriet Preston, wife of our esteemed president, assisted by himself, after which it was declared by the master mason, and masons to be well done, being plumb and accurately set. Carved upon the keystone is a magnificent star, called the Star of Morning, being in a elevated position, it looks out in bold relief upon the rising sun. About fourteen months ago Prest. Preston set the keystone in the arch of the first large window on the same end of the temple, upon which is carved the significant words, "Holiness to the Lord," and judging from the fact that the stone in question remains firmly in place, we conclude it was well done.
