On Friday evening last, an aged gentleman name Doney, a resident of Franklin, met with a very painful accident. He was chopping wood in his year, when he stumbled over a log and fell forward, his weight being thrown upon his left elbow, which struck the frozen ground. He came to Logan on Saturday to receive the attention of Doctor Ormsby. After examination, the doctor found that the principal bone of the elbow had been seriously fractured. The injured member was properly set, but it was not yet known whether or not Brother Doney will ever fully recover its use. Boot and Shoe making in all its branches. A petition is being circulated for the purpose of obtaining signatures in Logan by a gentleman named Meley, who wishes to secure his appointment as Postmaster here. He has good backing in the ??, besides having been a Union soldier and having received several wounds during the "late unpleasantness" and he feels condiment of success. A change is greatly needed in the office; and we hope that some man, who will devote himself strictly to the service of the people, may secure the appointment. On Saturday evening inst., the great drama of "The Two Orphans" was performed in Wellsville by the Dramatic Company of that city. From information given by those who were present it appears that the performance was in every respect a success, the hall being crowded by an appreciative audience. The deep pathos of the drama and the vivid scenes enacted caused tears to spring to the eyes of many who were present and completely entranced all who witnessed the representation. In all probability, at the request of many citizens the company will be induced to give a repetition of their performance in Providence Hall. Wellsville and her people are not in the rear. J. Just before the theatrical performance began in Wellsville meeting house last Saturday evening, owning to the great weight of the people assembled, one of the joists of the floor broke beneath the gallery. The floor only swayed a trifle and in a few minutes all was properly secured by placing supports where they would do the most good. LAKESIDE LIBRARY. Associations of the Second District held a meeting in this place last evening. The programme of exercises, ??. glees, songs, and choruses, essays, select readings and historical elucidations. Of the latter a fifteen minue's lecture on the Jaredites by Thomas Jessop, was peculiarly interesting and entertaining.
