Show first Yard Holds. Annusl Blue, J"VV I & , Gold Banquet The annual "Blue and Gold Banquet," for Cub Scouts and Webelos and their families, was held last Friday evening in the Lehi First Ward Church. There were around 100 in attendance, including the 25 boys and their families. The hall was decorated in the blue and gold theme. Cub Scouts made the place cards which included figures of scouts. Table decorations prepared by the Den Mothers, featured George Washington and patriotic motifs, combined with the scouting insignia. Decorated cakes added to the festive occasion. Cubmaster John Harr took charge of the evening and presented a number of awards to the boys. Entertainment was provided by Lynn Robinson, who sang and played the guitar, and Jay Carter played accordion selections. , Serving on the pack committee are James Lunt, Junior Carter and Dennis Finch, with Mrs. Shirley Scown as Den leader's coach. GOLDEN JUBILEE It was announced that the "Golden Jubilee," marking the 100th anniversary of the trans continental railroads, will be held in the new Salt Palace in Salt Lake City, May 10, 1969. An interesting and inspirational program was presented to the large congregation in attendance. The program followed the theme, "Making Memories," with prelude music by Jaylene Smuin. Lu Jeanne Peterson offered the invocation. "Dear to My Heart" was sung by the Third Ward Mia Maids, with Sharon de Paula as the accompanist. Mrs. Gaylon Pugh, stake leader, gave the welcome address and introduced the guest speaker, Mrs. Donald Nielsen. Mrs. Nielsen recalled the standards and requirements outlined in the Dairy Princess contest, and told of her experiences as the State Dairy Princess. The many fields of endeavor open to girls who follow high aims and aspirations were described. Christine Bernal offered the v closing prayer. Senior high students who are either juniors or seniors will be welcome in the class and a special welcome is extended to the members of the local TOPS clubs to join with the ladies who are interested in improving their general well being and doing spot exercises. Women from American Fork and Lehi are especially welcome, there will be no other sine Slim Trim class taught in Al- pine school district this term. The balanced program will continue for eight weeks and a small fee will be charged. Women are asked to come to the first class wearing appropriate exercise clothing such as a blouse, slacks or shorts and gym shoes. The class will have access to the Universal Gym and other gymnastic equipment at the high school, in addition to regular basketball, volleyball and other equipment. Mr. and Mrs. John Hutchings have recently returned home after a month's visit in Southern California. They were guests at the home of their daughter Esther, Mr. and Mrs. Quey Hebrew and son, Linke, at Hacienda Heights, a suburb of Los Angeles. Although they enjoyed numerous tours of points of interest, they also experienced the sad news of extensive floods and destruction, the plane crashes in that area and the oil slick from oceanic, oil wells. There were extensive floods on both sides of their location. Outstanding locations not previously visited by the Hutchings family group included the Wax Museum, Alligator Farm (rated as the largest in Che world), and the Annheuiser-Busc- h Aviary, with birds from all parts of the world. They are maintained in their natural habitat and are not caged in. "Bible Lands of the Desert," features sculptures of Bible scenes, David, the Savior in Gethsamanee, and others on . the hillside. Since their return, thew Mr. Hebrew, has visited with them briefly, while on a tour of universities. He filled an appointment at Brigham Young University Geology Department, to speak to students interested in Geology. He is employed as geologist for the Shell Oil Company.
