Family Pageant Open to Ail SHARON STEELE Review Correspondent - WEST POINT Back in 1977 Diane Hunt, formerly of Clinton, decided to give her six children a Christ Christmas. Little did she realize that her gift, in the form of a lifelike reenactment of New Testament events leading up to the birth of Christ, would spread beyond her own family. y , Friends, neighbors, and came to witness her pagpass-sers-b- The eant, of Miracle Christmas. During the first year, more than 1,200 people attended'the outdoor dramatization held on the Hunts front lawn, and the crowds just kept getting bigger each Christmas season. Taking her text from the Bible, Mrs. Hunt sewed all the costumes and arranged for professional , lighting and sound systems to facilitate viewing by an audience bundled against snowy weather in scarves, boots, and heavy coats. Scenery for the production was built by Mrs. Hunts husband, Douglas and her sons. Local townspeople pitched in taking parts of angels, , shepherds, Romans, and wise men. Although the pageant was orige inally conceived as a production, Diane says it has kept going because the response is so real. People actually weep as they see Joseph coming down the street leading a real donkey. Unlike many nativity presentations that depict Biblical scenes as tableaus, the Hunt pageant is acted out. This year, when the family announced plans to move to West Point, the Hunts were beseiged with exclamations like What about the pageant? Youve got to one-tim- (yjGGTOno have the Christmas play! And so, Diane explains, the pageant moved too. With a past of 20 to 30 people, the Miracle of Christmas will be presented three times nightly on Dec. 22, 23, 24, at 997 N. 4500 W., West Point. Signs giving directions will be placed west from the Artie Circle on 300 North, in Clearfield, and from the Bonus Gas Station in Sunset. With showtimes at 6:30, 7, and 7:30 p.m., those wishing to attend afe urged to dress warmly.
