According to Jann Wyler, state director of the Miss Utah-USpageant, the competition was especially stiff this year. All 12 finalists were really gorgeous," said Wyler. One of the reasons Michele won is because people are attracted to her. She has a! lovely smile and is warm and friendly. The other girls really liked her, Wyler said. Contestants competed in three areas: interviews, swimsuits and evening gowns. Brown said she did not think she had a chance of winning even when the judges selected her as one of the 2 fi- nalists. When her name was announced as the winner, Brown became Miss Utah-USlast weekend at the Salt Palace. The Roy beauty will compete at the national Miss USA pageant next May.
