Review Correspondent FACT: its a governmental agency which provides incentive and stimulus for private enterprise to develop within a community. This new business, in turn, provides new jobs, tax base and a need for other business to provide support services. Being part of community government, the Redevelopment Agency can extend a friendly hand to the private sector. It develops plans which benefit the community through orderly, controlled progress. Property can be packaged without costly commissions... incentives offered through government financing packages such as Industrial Revenue Bonds. The development of new business brings the need for support services such as insurance, office supplies, transportation, legal and financial services, etc. New jobs bring new workers who buy food, clothes, housing, etc. Very simply, Sounds like this agency has a lot of power. Gin it tell me what to do or condemn my property? FACT: Just like any other branch of government, a Redevelopment Agency must answer to the people. It is controlled by the people through elected officials and it must operate in a manner that is of benefit to the community. No, the agency can not tell people what to do. Nor can it arbitrarily condemn property or ram unwanted projects down peoples throats. It is interesting to note that the Bountiful Redevelopment Agency has been guided by a balanced City Council, elected by the people. They believe in the concept of the Redevelopment Agency and its importance in generating additional city income through the orderly stimulation of new business. The present Mayor and the entire City Coun-- v cil have, to date, unanimously supported the role of the Redevelopment Agency and planned growth for our city.
