The secondary water pushed its way into the house, through the plumbing, out of the house, and throughout the entire trailer court. There were 280 people drinking bad water in that trailer court, Facer said. It happened at the Roy Recreation Complex. The boiler there has fresh water going into it. Conditions were just right to allow the water going into the boiler to become submerged into the secondary water. The boiler was being cleaned out. A large demand occurred on the system, probably a grass fire needing the fire hydrants, Facer said. Water that had poisonous chemicals in it was sucked back into the centers drinking water. Luckily, it was noticed before anyone got sick. The problem was corrected. - Facer said that it has happened when water mains have broken and water pools around the leak. The water is turned off. The break happens at a high elevation. And pooled water water drains back into the system to lower elevation. Once two years ago, an apartment complex was supplied with contaminated water. But according to Jack Seamons, Chairman of the Planning Commission, this ordinance will not provide panacea for the high cost of housing. He said the large lot size, higher than average interest rate, short loan periods and average tax fees could make the cost of owning a home in such a subdivision costly. The work session also considered the benefits to the city. If the tax structure turned out to be less than in ordinary homes, it may not be in the best interest of the city to maintain the streets and A mobile home subdivision Roy ordinance advanced one step further in the adoption process as the Roy Planning Commissior and the City Council worked out d. ails at a recent city planning session. The ordinance, if passed by the City Council, will allow individual ownership of landthatthe mobile home sits on. Most mobile home owners now live in parks that charge pad fees. The new law would treat mobile home developments as subdivisions, just like any other housing project. There was some question as to whether to call the homes mobile, since they wouli aftin stationary in most cases. cross-connecti- 4 Chosen for Girls State ROY Girls from Roy High School will be amoung the 336 in attendance at Girls State, sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary.
