PETTIT lived in England until the age of five when she and her parents, a brother, Leon K. Brewster, moved to Winnepeg, Manitoba, Canada. IN 1971 the couple moved to Kay Lucas, Layton; two grandchildren; sisters and three halfsisters, Mrs. Bruce (Margaret) Magnuson, Castle Dale, Ut.; Mrs. Oscar (Josephine) Beebe, Pocatello, Ida.; Mrs. LaVell (Donna) Crawford, Mrs. George (Leah) Klotoos and Mrs. Ken (Irene) Wood, all of Los Angeles, Calif. FUNERAL services rrre under the direction of Lindquist Kaysville Mortuary and were held in the Layton West Stake Center with Bishop Randy Kimball officiating. Interment in the Altamont City Cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Pilcher attended the horse races in Pocatello, Ida. Iasi week. Mrs. Ruth Ward was hostess to the Mt. Road Neighborhood Birthday Club at her home on June 10. The July club meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Betty Abrams on July 8. Mr. and Mrs. Brent Major and children spent the holiday weekend in southern Utah en- joying Canyonlands, Bryce National Park and horseback riding. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Thomas and family spent the July 4 weekend on camping tnp in the Uinta Mountains. Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Wnght and family have moved to Kaysville from Houston, Texas. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Michie and family vacationed for a week in Pork City. Mr. and Mrs. Anhur returned from a vaca-- . non trip to Baja where they saw many historical sites and Tho-mass- enjoyed deep sea fishing. While in California they visited his sister, Mrs. Marguerite Wilkinson at Chula Vista and with Mr. and Mrs. Danny Car-do- n at Pomona. Also, Mr. and Mrs. Jeffery Rayburn, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Skaggs at Garden Grove, daughters of Arthus K. Thomassen. Arthur Keith and sons accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Thomassen on the trip to Baja. Mrs. Joseph S. Hill flew to California where she spent 2' weeks with her daughter and family Brian and Rebecca FicI-de- n in Vista, Calif. She was their to help with the arrival of a new granddaughter, Lindsay, bom June 9. Mrs. Hill was accompanied home by her sister, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Bramwell of Van Nuys, Calif, The Bramwells will be making their home in Kaysville. Stephen and Patti Graves have returned from a two week holiday in England. They spent six days in London and another six days in Hertfordshire. They spent lots of time sightseeing and enjoyed the turned after three weeks stay. Mr. and Mrs. Owen Horne a nephew held at the Jordan River LDS 1 emple and the reception held in Salma. It was the wedding of Carl Anderson. It's a daughter for Mr. and Mrs, Rodney Wnght. Julie was born June 9 at the McKay-DeHospital in Ogden. At home arc Bnan, Stacy and Wendy, Mrs. Wnght is the former Linda flint of Kaysville. Grandparents include Mr. and Mrs. Vernon 1 lint and Mr. and Mrs. James Wnght, all of Kaysvillc. are Mrs. Ina Hunter. Bountiful; Mr. and Mrs. Dallon Larsen, SLC. and Mr. and Mrs. Gaylord Taylor, Harris-vill- attended the wedding of Mr, and Mrs. Vern WooUey have had as houseguests their daughter and her family, Dr. and Mrs. Mark L, John of Tualatin, Oreg. Mrs. John was the former Betty WooUey. They visited a week with her parents and with his parents in SLC. Mr. and Mrs. Clinton D. Zollinger entertained their ( Great-grandparen- Goodcll. Mr. and Mrs, F.d Sprague and family and w uh her son. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Thomas and family. Dr. Gwyn Clark of Cedar City spent last weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Casper G. Car-rol- l. They attended the musical production of "The Music Man" in Kaysville. Dr. Clark was impressed with the excellence of the musical and the other community activities. Ma' School. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Heath spent Monday and Tuesday in Provo as overnight guests of her sister, Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Merrell. Stanley D. Guests included Dr. and Mrs, Roger Davis and four chddren from Grand Folks, N.- D: Mr. and Mrs. Gary Zollinger and children of Denver. Colo.; Mrs. Blair Woodflcld and children from Caldwell, Ida.; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Zollinger and children of Freemont, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hess and children from Centerville, and Edward Zollinger of Logan. Visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Green was their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Walters and family of Billings, Mont. They also visited his mother, Mrs. Mary Walters and other relatives and fnends in the area. They came for their Davis High School class reunion. DeVon Foote, Jr. of Turlock, Calif, spent a month in Kaysville with his parents Mr. and Mrs. DeVon Foote and family. DeVon is an athletic trainer at Turlock High a Ryan who was confirmed a member of the IDS Church, Guesi included Mr, and Mrs, FJwin Sprague, Mr, and Mrs. Harry Duckworth and their children and grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn arc welcoming their first AND VERA B. PETTIT VERA ACCOMPANIED her husband on a LDS mission to the Navajos and Hopi Indians in Arizona. They were privileged to pioneer the arrangements for the Lamanite School Children for placement in LDS homes in Utah. It was a very successful mission where much love was generated for them. Many Indian children were named Vera and Eric as a tribute to them. A large collection of Indian artifacts, acquired whole living among the Indians, will be Demonstrations and lectures vere presented to many clas-e- s of school children in this rea for a number of years. Layton; son, Paul H. Lucas, Clearfield; daughter, Marilyn ts FACTORY SECONDS Mrs. Pettit was active in many church functions. She taught classes in Primary, Sunday School, MIA and Relief Society. She was called to the Relief Society presidency of the Uintah ward. She sherved on the stake board for South Ogden Stake and as a stake organist. She was a Sunday School coordinator for the Palm Springs Ward and ward organist for four different wards. She had many hours of research in genealogy and made two trips to England. As a result of these trips thousands of names were processed for temple ordinances. on display at the Layton Museum for a short time. The :ollection is very valuable and las interest for young and old. Howard LAYTON Woodard Lucas, 69, of 500 N. Angel, Layton, died July 6, 1982 in the Davis North Medical Center of a heart attack. He was bom Dec. 19, 1912 in Salt Lake City, the son of Henry Jacob and Ellen Mable Aldous Lucas.He married Lola Mae Perkins in Duchesne, Utah March 9, 1944. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. HE WAS reared in the Uintah Basin and graduated from Roosevelt High School. He had been a civilian policeman at Hill AFB for 24 years retiring in 1970. He was a member of the Layton 19th Ward and was a veteran of World War II having served with the U.S. Army in France and Germany. Surviving are his widow of Vera Brewster Pettit, 80. of Layton, died July 11, 1982 at the home of a daughter, Bernice Potter. She was born in Bristol, England Feb. 13, 1902 the daughter of Arthur and Emma Brewster. She married Eric William Pettit Feb. 20, 1924. He died July 25, 1981. Their marriage was in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. MUSIC WAS one of her greatest loves. She spent many hours practicing piano and organ. She started teaching at the age of 16. Many 100s of students in Davis and Weber county reaped the benefit of the fine technics she had mastered. Her training started in Canada with a Miss Brown who prepared her for the Toronto Conservatory of Music exams. She studied under the direction of the McCune School of Music, Frank Asper, Wade Stevens (both LDS Tabernacle organist) and Frederick Dixon. She continued teaching until two months ago in Desert Hot Springs, Calif. months vacation trip to Indiana where they visited wnh their daughter and family, James and Gloria Taylor and children, at Carmel. Their grandson, Anthony, returned to Utah with them to visit for three weeks. While en route they spent lime in Decatur, ill, visiting with a niece, Mr. and Mrs. Louie Van Orden and in Nauvoo, 111. with fnends, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Nichols. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Myers, both from Milford, are serving on an LDS mission in Nauvoo, In Denver, Colo, they were guests of Mr. Barton's sister, Mrs. Pearl Baldwin and her family. Lt. Col. (ret.) and Mrs. Laurence Neuberger and two sons, Greg and Chad, of San Antonia, Texas, were house-guest- s for three days of Mr. and Mrs. Joe F. Preece. They came to attend the funeral of Col. Neuberger'i mother, Mrs. Mark Neuberger, held June 30 in Logan. They spent ten days in Logan with his father and two brothers and their families and also w ith her mother, Mrs. Laura Cheney. They returned to Texas on Heart Attack Claims Howard W. Lucas, 69 Services Held For Vera B. Pettit, 80 The family resided in Winnepeg until she was 18 years old. They moved to Salt Lake City. The family was con- -' verted to the LDS Church while living in Canada. Mr. and Mrs. Pettit made their home on a fruit farm in east Layton and resided there for 47 years. They had four children, Phyllis Posell Evans, and Bernice Potter, both of Layton; William B. Pettit, who is deceased, and Ralph E.
