Show WEEKLY REFLEX -- r DAVIS NEWS JOURNAL, FEBRUARY 15, 1979 Woods Gross Has Attention On Box Elder High School Sports Very Unpredictable - WOODS CROSS Coach Wayne Baker and his troops are well aware of a couple of big road games coming up for By DAVE WIGHAM them but right now their main concern is with Box Elder. WOODS CROSS, leading the league with an unbeaten record at this writing, has road games with Ogden and Davis around the comer but this Friday they host a very good Box Elder club. Theyre probably the best fourth place team around. Consider the facts that they beat Davis at Davis which isnt easy for anyone, and then they played Ogden to a game on the Ogden floor. They seem to play well on the road, noted Coach High school sports are unpredictable to begin with but the one sport that stands out in front of the rest in this category is wrestling. AFTER SITTING through two days of a region tournament one can begin to see what the word unpredictable really means. Guys that havent lost all year are beaten, once and then twice in some cases. Others who havent done extremely well in dual meets suddenly come on strong and win the crown. As one coach so aptly put it, You just never know in this sport, nothing is a sure thing. LAST WEEK this reporter attempted to list the names of the top wrestlers in each weight. Now the reporter passes the buck. The coaches are the ones who told me who would fight for the crown so if the name was left off it came as a surprise to them. Lets take the case of one of the Viewmont wrestlers who won the title at 129. His mother asked the reporter after the tournament how he felt about not mentioning winner. Well the first of all the reporter doesnt blame the mother at all. She was right to jump over him. The Mi' M f COLIN WILSONS dream about By DAVE WIGHAM hero. Basketball players Bess I'Jln Fetapy 2"!
