I The young people of Davis County are joining the fun at the Layton Hills Mall Valentines celebration. THE THIRD and fourth Q. Dr. wake up every morning with a backache. To my knowledge, have never injured my back so I don't understand why my bach aches. My wife sug- I a bed gested it could be our bed. Is it possible for cause a backache every day? to A. There are many and varied causes for back problems. We could literally fill a library with them. My first suggestion to you is that you see your chiropractor who specializes in back problems and let him decide what the basic underlying cause of your backache is. A chiropractic exam can determine if you are a chiropractic case or not. However, let me talk a little about beds. We spend approximately one third of our lives in bed and yet most of us buy TV sets, dishwashers, and lawn mowers with much greater care and caution than we do beds. The choice of a mattress and spring set is, of course, a highly individual thing, but the choice should be made with certain guide lines in mind. 1) The mattress should be firm enough for us to sleep on but not so rigid that it makes us stiff. 2) It should have enough give to it that our bodies are comfortable, but it should not allow us to "sag into it. should carry a 3) The mattress and springs reasonable guarantee. A good mattress and springs diould have at least a ten year guarantee. In recent years, the professional chiropractic Associations has studied extensively beds and their relationship to good spinal hygine.
