Show Southern UtaVi Pioneer Dies At Home in Ordervillc Funeral services for Henry Webster Web-ster Esplln, 88. father of Henry and Cha:les Estlin of Cedar City, were held in Ordervllle Saturday. Mr. Esplin. a prominent early settler of southern Utah, died on September 22nd. of ailments incident to age. Henry Webster E-plin was born October 20, 1854 in Nephi, Utah, a son of John and Margaret Webster Esplin. When a young man he moved mov-ed with his parents .to settle on the Muddy, moving to Mpunt Carmel and later to O dervjlle when the settlers ,were released fr.om the Muddy Mission. R" was active in the United Order here and was a plopeer cattle and sheep rancher. He frag Dom of road work on many road building enterprises. He married phielna Cox. November Novem-ber 3, 1873 In the Salt Lake Endowment Endow-ment House. She died during the summer of 1937. He married Kezin Ann Carroll Septmber 13. 1878 in the St. Oeorge Temple. Shu d.ed October 2. 1942. Jle had 12 children child-ren by nach wife. He served us bishop of the Ordervllle Or-dervllle ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for about 25 years onto was Patriarch of Kanab Stake from December 5. 1910 until he died. Survivors Include the following: Henry Esplin and Charles Esplin of Cedar CHy; Alma C. Espln of Logan, Miss Kesla Esplin. Mlss Margaret Esplin, Mrs. 8a. uh Cox Chamberlain and Mrs. Geneva Chamberlain and Mrs. Bessie Brooksby of Ordervillc; Mrs. Lena Woodbury of Ahodena, Calif . Mrs . Evelyn Richardson of Salt Lake City, Mrs Lucy Jones of Cecar City. Mrs. Vcrda Adams and Mrs. Ella Pendleton of Parowan, Mrs. Arleiti Brdwn of Spanish Fork, and Mrs Cora Chamberlain of Kanab; 7(5 grandchildren. 45 great-grandchildren, four sLsters. Mrs. Per.sls Heaton or Alton. M a. Clara Car-rol Car-rol of Ordervllle. Mrs. Clarlsa Luke. Preston, Idaho, and Mrs. Miranda Sorenson, Mt. Catmel. and one brother, David Esplin of St. Oeorge. lie has eight grandson and one granddaughter In the armed services, ser-vices, and another grandson Is to be Inducted next month One grandson grand-son has teen given un honorable release. |
