Show Marries While Home , On Furlough From Overseas Combat Duty, William R. Bowen, F 1c, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Bowen of Cedar City, and Miss Kathryn Rollins, daughter of Mr. Evan Rollins ot Parowan were married cn Monday. May 21sU while F 1c Bowen was home on furlough from military! duty. The ceremony was performed by Bp. Scott Day. On May 22nd. the young couple left for Salt Lake City to spend a few days visiting before the groom returned to duty. I Bowen was home on furlough after af-ter eighteen months cf overseas duty. He entered service in Septem-' ber. 1943, and left for overseas duty before the end of the year. A3 a member of an LST, F 1c Bowen participated in the invasion of Normandy, and continued to assist as-sist with the transporting of troops and tanlks during the battle of I Normandy and with the transporting transport-ing of supplies as the armies drove across France and into Germany. Upon his return to duty he. will be assigned to a training ship as an instructor. Mrs. Bowen is the only daughter of Mr. Rollins. She is a graduate of ' the Parowan high school, and since the death of her mother some time ( ago she has been caring for her younger brothers. |
