Show Acil B. Petty, FormerCedar Resident dies in Auto Accident Cocolalla, Idaho; Mrs, Howard (Beatrice) Shaw, Alexandria, Virginia; Leora P. George, Van Nuvs. California, Frank J. Petty, Cedar City, Utah; and Mrs. Dan (Patricia) Magleby, Boise, Idaho. The graveside services at the Cedar City Cemetery were conducted by Bishop Cleo M. Petty. Prayer was offered by Dr, Reed C. Petty with a vocal solo, "Coming Home" by Bert Carpenter and remarks from Ruben Jones. The grave was dedicated by Frank J. Petty. f ' ' ' ' . While vrving with the Ordinance Division of the "Rail Splitters" he took part in the "D Day" activities in Kurope and was a member of the U.S. armed forces in the great "Battle of the Bulge". Upon returning home from World War II, he accepted employment as an automobile mechanic at Petty Motor in Salt Lake City. He later worked at Colonial Ford, and at the time of his death was employed em-ployed by Larson Ford. lie was active member of the Latter-day Saints Church and was a member of the Elders Quorum of the Highland View Second Ward. On June 23, 1948 he married Patricia Clay in DesMoines, Iowa. He is survived by his wife, and four daughters, Mrs. Jeffrey Funeral services for Acil Brown Petty. M. were held Wednesday September 27, 1978 in the Highland View Second Ward Chapel in Salt Lake City. Graveside services ser-vices were held Thursday September 28th at the family plot in the Cedar City Cemetery. Mr. Petty was killed in an automobile accident in Spanish Fork, Utah on September 24, 1978. Acil B. Petty was born July 8, 1914 in St. George to Dr. Frank II. and Bertha Cottam Petty. In 1918 he moved With his family to Cedar City. Here he attended at-tended the public schools, graduating from high school in 1933. In May 1935 he graduated from the Branch Agricultural College. He also attended schools in Southern California receiving his degree in Diesel Engineering. He worked for the Utah Parks Co. as a diesel plant operator at Bryce Canyon and also for the Southern Utah Power Co. Mr. Petty served for many R. (Pamela) Grant; Laurie Petty; Rebecca Petty; all of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Henry (Tracy) Hart, Seattle, Washington; two grand-chidlren; grand-chidlren; brothers and sisters, Dr. Reed C. Petty, |
