Biederman Dies, Funeral Conducted Alfred Louis (Fred) Bieder-man, Bieder-man, 71, prominent Cedar City rancher, businessman and civic leader, died Saturday, July 4 at his home of carcinoma. He had been in poor health for several months. Mr. Biederman was a retired livestock man, having operated I a purebred cattle breeding ranch in Cedar Valley for many years. He established the Biederman Meat Market in Cedar City and I operated the business for many i years. Active in civic affairs he served as a Cedar City councilman council-man and fire chief, and was es-1 peclally active in promoting the Southern Utah Livestock Show. He was born in Philadelphia, Pa., on Feb. 6, 1888, a son of Al-bin Al-bin and Lina Weber. He married Emelie Rachel Jones on Oct. 18. 1 1909. She died on Oct. 21. 1943' and on June 20, 1945 Mr. Bieder-I man married Matilda S. White of Cedar City. Mr. Biederman is survived by his widow, Cedar City; one son, Alfred Grant Biederman, Cedar City; two daughters, Mrs. Geor- gia Snyder, Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Joe (Lucille) Fakler, of St. George. Also surviving are four grandchildren; grand-children; fpur great-grandchildren, and the following brothers and sister: Mrs. Marie Filak, Mrs. Lina Schutz ard William A. Biederman, Bie-derman, Philadephla, and Albert Biederman, Cedar City. Funeral services were conducted conduct-ed Tuesday in the Cedar First-Fifth First-Fifth Ward chapel by Bishop Homer S. Jones. Speakers at the services were Rev. Raymond J. Wilson, Walter K. Granger and Oscar J. Hulet. Invocation was by Lehi Jones, benediction by Don Draper and the dedicatory prayer at the Cedar Ce-dar City cemetery by Jim Urie. The musical program Included a vocal solo, "Sometime We'll Understand," by Alice Williams, and' a vocal solo, "End of a Perfect Per-fect Day," by Christine Winter-rose. Winter-rose. Both were accompanied by Belle Jones, who was also at the organ for prelude and postlude music. |
