Show Former Resident Dies in St. George Alter Short Illness Mrs. Lois Baird Heaton, 67, former Cedar City resident, died at her home in St. George Tuesday Tues-day morning following a short Illness. Mrs. Heaton was born July 10, 1881 in Kanab, a daughter of Brigham Young Balrd and Margaret Mar-garet Elizabeth Allen Balrd. She was educated in Kanab and later lat-er was graduated from the nurse? school of the LDS church In Salt Lake City. She was married mar-ried to Ira Hoyt Heaton, Oct. 4, 1905 in the Salt Lake LDS temple. During their early married life they lived In Richfield, Enoch, Marysvale, Alton and Cedar City. They remained in Cedar City until un-til 1944, when they were called as workers in the St. Ceorge LDS temple. They have resided in St. George since that time. In addition to her temple work and nursing, Mrs. Heaton had been active in other branches of the church, serving as a Trimary president in Kanab, and in other church capacities in other com munities, i Surviving are her husband and the following sons and daughters: daugh-ters: Mrs. Glen II. Sherratt and Allen B. Heaton, Cedar City; Mrs. Fay II. Stout, Salt Lake City; Louis E. Heaton, San Tablo, California; Cal-ifornia; Mrs. Iris H. Blackwelder, Apopka. Florida; 13 grandchildren grandchild-ren and four brothers and sisters, Louis Balrd, St. George; Samuel Baird, Salt Lake City; William J. Balrd, Alton, and Mrs. Effa Campbell, Emmett, Idaho. Funeral services will be conducted con-ducted in the Cedar Third ward chapel at 3:00 p. m., Monday, January 21 under the direction of Bishop Stanley Smith of the Enoch ward. Burial will be In the Cedar City cemetery. |
