Show OBITUARY. W. G. M. Steward, a pioneer assayer of Utah, cut flowers last Monday morning morn-ing for a friend's wedding. In the afternoon aft-ernoon his lifeless body was found stretched on the coal pile in his office near West Temple and Second. South streets. How long he had been dead no one knows, as there was no one else in the office, and it was not even known that he was seriously ill until his dead body was found. His death was the result of heart trouble, from which he had been suffering. Mr. Steward was one of the pioneer assayers in this country. He was born in England. Dec. 8, 1849, and came to this country in 1871. After remaining here for a time he returned to England, but came back here in' 1SS1 and began assaying work in the various mining camps of the state. He followed his profession in almost all the camps in the valley and was well known by miners min-ers and mine owners. A number of years ago he settled In this city and . since that time has operated a labora- j tory here. He was a man of fine character and sterling integrity.
