Show Another Great "Englishman." Sir Robert Hart, always spoken of as an Englishman, the man who built up the customs service of China and put the empire on a solid financial footing, proves to be an Irishman. Supposing him to be dead, people began to write his obituary, and the fact comes out that he was born in Armagh, Ireland, of Irish parents. Trace the record of many an enterprising "Englishman" who has made a name for himself abroad and brought honor,to his reputed reput-ed country, and it will be found that he is either Irish or Scotch and often a mixture of both. |
