India In-dia ought to furnish double the number of troops of nil the colonics, nnd could much easier do It than the home Islands could furnish the six corps contemplated contem-plated In the scheme to put tho British Bri-tish army on nnj thing llko an equality equal-ity with the armies of the continental powers. The number of troops comprising com-prising the corps Is not given in the telegram detailing the scheme; but If it In anything like the 65,000 men that comprise the German army corps, tho raising of four corps w ould prov e n v ery serious tusk for Canada. Altogether the plan provides for seventeen army corps; on the German basis, a total army of considerably over a million men. Such an army would of course bo able to match any continental army on a peace footing. But It Is not likely that Great Britain will put any such nrmy as that In commission.
