MEANS FUTURE SECURITY BUY BONDS v Ke- If only a few American citizens were to cast their ballot at election time, an organized minority could control the electorate! The above paragraph doesn't sound very omimous, does it? But, fellow citizens, that paragraph is loaded with dynamite. Why? When American people do not exert their sovereign prerogatives at the polls on Election Day, they are unwittingly exposing themselves to a minority rule, and rule by minority groups tend to subvert the will of all the people and destroy their freedom. Your party affiliations do not matter. You must personally decide what candidate you think best suited for the job and vote for him. No one should influence your choice; it's up to you. ' Voting is the responsibility of each individual. Each citizen must decide that he wants to vote. He must make an effort to meet voting requirements, and finally, he must see that, his ballot is marked properly and returned to appropriate election officials. Whether the man you vote for is elected by a one vote, margin or a million vote margin, at least you haven't thrown away your chance to help elect the candidate of your choice to public office. In determining the procedure a serviceman must take to be able to vote, it must be remembered that most states have their own voting rule3. Some of the qualifications for voting are uniform among all tne 48 states, but most of the laws vary from state to state. All states, for example, require that the voter be a citizen of the United States. The voter must also be a citizen of the state in which he desires to vote. Most states allow absentee voting and permit balloting in general elections, but not in the primaries.
