Show 6-YEAR-OLD BOY BADLY BURNED A distressing accident and one that almost cost Howard Bardsley, the 6-year-old son of Mr .and Mrs. LeRoy Bardsley of Centerfield, his life, occurred last Friday evening shortly after 5 o'clock. The clothes of the little fellow had become Ig- nited and before the fire could be W tixtinguished the body from the groin up to the neel; was badly sear- ; fd and burned. )r- vlagau was called in and gave first-aid treatment treat-ment and for several days the life of the boy hung in the balance. Late reports from the bedside, however, are very encouraging, and the i chances for recovery are now most favorable. Howard had been assisting an un cle in burning brush some distance from his home. The little fellow had started home and was nearing St when it was discovered, his clothes were on fire. He started running end the wind only tended to fan the flames and soon the little fellow was enveloped in flames At this time a little playmate met him and subdued sub-dued the fire by splashing water from a .ditch. Howard then t proceeded pro-ceeded to his home and it was not until his mother arrived that it was found that tli,e lad was seriously burned An examination showed that the little boy had suffered severe se-vere burns on the arms and all over the body from the neck to the lower hips, all of the clothing having been turned away, leaving the skin blackened and seared It is presumed that during the time the boy was working a spark lodged in the clothing and smol-" smol-" dored until the lad had started home t which time it started burning. The boy, although suffering severely, se-verely, is biaving th2 ordeal like a little man and It Is thought that some Telief will be given within the next few days. It is more than likely like-ly that it will be necessary to take the boy to Salt Lake for ekin greft-in. |
