Show AVIATOR FALLS TO HIS DEATH. Yale Graduate Has Fatal Fall While Doing Stunts in the Air at Dominguez Field. Los Angeles. Rutherford Page, aged twenty-four, a Yale graduate, registered from New York, and flying as one of the Curtiss aviators, fell 150 feet to his death Monday afternoon at Dominguez field, a few moments before- the close of the third day'st program pro-gram of the third international aviation avia-tion meet. His death, the doctors said, was instantaneous. Page was endeavoring to "turn on a pivot" at a height of about 150 feet, when the swell of air over the hangars hang-ars caught his planes. Page made an effort to regain his balance, but, evidently, evi-dently, fearing that the aeroplane was beyond control, gave up and when about sixty feet in the air jumped clear of the machine as it was dropping drop-ping like a plummet. He cleared the machine and fell flat into the plowed ground. According to the doctors he was crushed to death. |
