HBaH I' Ferry, att he home of Mrs. McClure. Pink and white carnations, and plumosa, with candelabra shaded in the same tints, made a most effective decoration. The place cards were dainty valen-tiens. valen-tiens. Covers were laid for twelve. tJV tV tv Two of the most pleasing events of the week were the card parties given Thursday and Friday by Mrs. Simon Bamberger. The Valentine idea was carrier out in both affairs, af-fairs, the red decorations prevailing with red hearts on the Valentine place cards, and the rooms set off with roses and carnations. About fifty guests enjoyed each affair. tV tV $v One of the smartest affairs of the week was the dinner given at the Alta club last evening by Mr. D. H. Peery in honor of Mr. Brewster and Mr. Stoddard of New Haven. The dinner was m red, American Beauties being used in profusion. fcv (,5 tv The High School cadet ball at the Armory on Monday was a decided success. Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Hays have announced the engagement of their daughter, Julia K., to Enos D. Hoge, Jr., the wedding to take place Feb. 18. The Assembly ball on Thursday evening was one of the prettiest of the series, and a brilliant success. Mr. Edward McGurrin has gone east on business, busi-ness, and Mrs. McGurrin has gone to California to visit her brothers. Mr. and Mrs. George Dern are at home on the corner of H and First streets. Mrs. Russell Tracy entertained on Tuesday at whist. Dr. and Mrs. Niles entertain at cards next Monday. Mrs. E. W. Wilson entertained informally yesterday yes-terday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Noble have gone to San Francisco. Mrs. Charles Fifield entertains at cards this afternoon. Mrs. H. D. Niles entertains at luncheon at the Alta club nex Wednesday. Mrs. H. H. Spencer of Ogden is the guest of Mrs. Edward M. Allison. Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Fabian entertained at dinner din-ner on Monday in honor of their guest, Mr. Werner Wer-ner Fabian of Chicago. Richards entertains at cards this afternoon in honor of Mrs. F. W. Scarff. Mrs. Woodruff and Miss Kimball have issued invitations for Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday of next week. An American Beauty luncheon was given on Tuesday by Mrs. E. S. Ferry, and Mrs. McClure. Ten guests were present. Mrs. Ferry and Mrs. McClure entertained at an elaborate dinner preceding the Assembly. A delightful affair was the old-fashioned supper given by Major and Mrs. Downey on Thursday evening to a number of old friends. Mrs. Harry S.
