Sherman, or New York, to bo president presi-dent nnd vice-president or tho United States, respectively. Vlco-Presldent Fairbanks, occupying occupy-ing a scat on tho right or Speakor Cannon, presided. After announcing tho purpose of tho gathering, ho unlocked un-locked tho wooden boxes containing tho electoral votes, extracting and opening them in alphabetical order by states. , As tho votes of each stato woro opened thoy wero handed by tho vice-president vice-president to tho four tellers Sena' tors Burrows nnd Balloy and Representatives Repre-sentatives Haines nnd Russell who proceeded to count them. Tho count concluded, the result was announced to tfic presiding officer, showing 321 electoral votes for Taft and Sherman and 1C2 votes for Bryan and Kern.
