Show I Appeal for Honost Rodomptlon of W. S. S. Pledges ' j C o The County Central Committee I of W. S. S. is maldng a final ap- I peal for the honest redemption of War Savings Pledges. Chairman Pond Is in receipt of a letter from State Chnlnnnn James W. Collins who urges, in the strongest languago possible, that the citizens of Box Eider county do" their duty and redeem every pledgo made to purchase ,War Savings Stamps. The anxiety anx-iety of Chairman Collins' is equaled eq-ualed by Chairman Pond who feels it will be a crying shame for this great county to fall In this matter. Some people have been mot up with who frankly declare that since tho war Is over they don't see tho necessity of purchasing War Stamps despite de-spite tho fact that they have signed their names to tho pledgo card. This attltudo 1b most reprehensible, for tho government govern-ment has long since contracted to spend tho money to bo raised by this mcanB. The nrmy must bo maintained In Franco; the boys muBt bo brought back homo; tho votIoub departments of the government must continue con-tinue In operation and it all requires re-quires money. If wo refuse to lend our money at a good rate of Interest, the government has tho it authority to levy a tax and If k that is done, our money will go and never return and Ihero wont bo any Interest couponB either. " The people of Box Elder coun- ' ty will bo blessed just to the extent ex-tent that they invest In theso government loans. Many men have saved money this year by purchasing stamps and bonds, who never saved before In all their lives. No man needs sympathy for Investing In these loans; they arc tho best In tho world and a blcsslne to him. But Box Elder will never bo satisfied If sho falls to go "over tho top" In the redemption of her W. S. S. Pledges. By tho same promises, no single Individual will feel comfortablo In his con-j science If ho excuses himself ifrom fulfilling his pledge. Every man must come through and make a clear record. IThoso of you who find it difficult dif-ficult to meet tho obligation of redeeming your pledges, may go to tho bank nnd borrow tho money; giving the stamps as security, se-curity, and at tho end of ten may cash tho War Savings Certificates Cer-tificates at the Post Office. This is permissible and entirely hon-5 hon-5 orablo, but tho suggestion Is of-1 of-1 fered only as a final means to 'get tho county "over," for the County Chairman nnd his com-; com-; mlttco do not desire tho humiliation humili-ation of having to report that Box Elder county FAILED. This tho final appeal tp workers work-ers and citizens alike. Wo want our county to bo In tho honor column. It's up to you. LEWIS S. POND, j ' County Chairman, i |
