Show Moquis On A Tear County Teams Head For Region By John Yardley The Escalante Moquis served notice on the rest of the league last week that they are ready for the upcoming Region Tourna- ment. The Moquis blasted Milford 75-62 on Wednesday and came back to top in-county rival Bryce Valley 67-61 on Thursday. Nathan Lyman poured in 27 points to lead Escalante over Milford. Justin Christensen dropped in 15 and Travis Steed hit for II. It was an impressive win for coaches Brent Cottam and Tyson Brinkerhoff. On Thursday, the Moquis outlasted the Mustangs in a tight game. Escalante led 36-33 at half, then moved out on a big 20-point quarter in the third. Lyman drilled 22, Lucas Schulkoski 19, including four 3-pointers, 3-pointers, and Steed hit 12. David Mathews rolled off 22 points for BV, with Tye Ramsay gunning in 17. The final, Escalante 67, Bryce Valley 61. Panguitch lost their final league bout, 63-58, against a fired-up Piute team at Junction. The Bobcats led by 2 after three, but the T-Birds were tough inside down the stretch, while Panguitch missed five straight shots. Rowdy Smith, Jesse Allen and McKay Allen teamed to lead Piute. Acey Burning-ham Burning-ham shot in 18 for Panguitch, with Landon Fullmer scoring 12.
