Harris, along with Rebecca Chappell, Torrey and Ruth Schear, Circleville, graduated from the school's nursing program last week in Richfield. Local Women Graduate From Nursing School Three local women recently '. . graduated from the Weber State University Online RN Program and were awarded their diplomas diplo-mas last week at a ceremony in ; : Richfield. Susan Harris, Rebecca Chappell and Ruth Schear have been working full-time at Garfield Memorial Hospital in Panguitch, taking care of their ; families, and taking classes over ; ; the Internet over the last year. They also did extensive traveling travel-ing to different hositals to get : hands-on experience in the nursing nurs-ing field. Harris lives in Tropic and works as an LPN at the hospital in Panguitch. Before that, she worked as a CNA and has been attending nursing school for the last 2 12 years. At the graduation gradua-tion ceremony, Susan was ; awarded her degree as well as -' one of only two awards that were given for Outstanding Achievement in, Clinicals. Susan is a daughter of Mondell ! and Florence Syrett of Tropic ; and her husband, Ron Harris ; - and her children, Jocelyn, Jade, ' Kasen, and Trevan all were in attendance at the ceremony along with other family mem- ; ; bers. Harris is also an " ; Intermediate EMT and has served as a volunteer member '. ; ; for 20 years. Chappell also works full-time ; at the hospital in Panguitch and ; was raised in Tropic, a daughter ; ; ' of Nancy Twitchell and grand-I grand-I daughter of Katie Thomas. She has been helping with the publication publi-cation of the Garfield County News, as well as serving as a full-time volunteer Intermediate EMT. She now lives in Torrey with her husband Chris and children chil-dren Brennen, Chase, Kaitlin and Hailey. Ruth Schear lives in Circleville, the wife of Gary Schear. She has two kids, Bryce and Brandi. She works full-time at the hospital and has also been attending classes. Ruth is a Licensed Practical Nurse and works has worked in Long Term Care at the hospital for over 10 years. There were 1 4 graduates in the class, and students came from as far away as the Unitah Basin, Cedar City, Sevier Valley, and Sanpete County. Although the graduates didn't attend classes in the traditional classroom, class-room, they kept in touch and became close through email and telephone and the occastional meeting in Richfield. The classes over the Internet were proctored by teachers from Nephi, Vernal, and Utah County. Cyndi Jorgensen deserves much of the credit for the graduates' success for serving as the Clinical Instructor. Jorgensen is from Richfield, and in addition to being an RN instructor, teaches teach-es at Snow College Richfield in the nursing department teaching future LPN's. All three local graduates plan on staying at Garfield Memorial after taking their state boards at the end of January. |
