Show i Mustangs Top Moquis Bryce Valley exploded for 90 points last week to defeat Escalante 90-77. Levi LeFevre notched 31 points for his second 30 point plus game in a week to lead the Mustangs. Tye Ramsay scored 19, David Mathews 15 and Cody Mortenson 9 to wrap up a balanced team offense for BV. Escalante got 21 from Flint Chynoweth, Rhett Butler hit 18 and Devin Shakepear 14 in the loss. The Mustangs had a great effort at Piute, before losing 60-57. 60-57. It would have been a huge breakthrough for BV, but they fell just a hoop short. LeFevre went for 19, Mathews 14 , Ramsay 1 1 and Gerhart Chappuis also scored 1 1 in this hard loss. The Mustangs host Panguitch Wednesday night in Tropic. Panguitch lost to Milford, a team that has been on a roll the second half, 68-65 last week. Casey Christensen scored 24, Tyler Barney 16 and Jason Dalton 15 in this loss. A win would have given the Bobcats some breathing room in second place in league standings, but it was not to be. The Bobcats came back to defeat Wayne 70-58 later in the week. Wayne played much better bet-ter than they did the last time the two teams met in Loa. Christensen drained 32 big points to lead the Bobcats. Wes Mangum scored 10 and Tyler Barney 9. In girls play, Panguitch had a fine defensive effort against Bryce Valley in defeating the Mustangs 43-19. Jena Sawyer had 16 for the Bobcats. Panguitch knocked off a "game" Escalante Moqui team 52-33 on Friday. The three Sawyers, Jena, Shauna and Hallie were the top scorers for the Bobcats. Laura Richmond, Rilee Smith and Tara Keefe led the effort for Escalante. The Moauis were verv competitive in the first half. Bryce Valley's girls lost 50-42 50-42 to a fine Green River team. Showing they can score against bigger teams, the Mustangs could not quite get over the top in this one after trailing by 10 at half time. Jenne Comp scored 1 1 and Bethany Comp 8 as the top scorers for BV. |
