Show Voters Will Pick County Assessor, Choose Cannon Or Friedbaum Garfield County voters may not trek to the polls in great numbers in Tuesday's primary election, but they should, if only to decide the only local partisan contested county seat in this year's elections. In March, the only local incumbents challenged were 15-year 15-year Republican County Assessor Tom Simkins who goes up against Republican Tracy Armstrong on Tuesday. Only Tuesday's winner will be on November's ballot, and, barring any unexpected write-in candidates. Also on Tuesday, Republicans will decide between incumbent U.S. Representative Chris Cannon and his challenger, Jeremy Friedman. All voters in Panguitch will decide whether their property tax levy should be increased to generate an additional $6,466 for their cemetery, and in Escalante whether the Wide Hollow Water Conservancy District should be authorized to levy property taxes to generate $14,000 in the district. The polls will open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. Voters in Antimony will cast their ballots at the firehouse on Highway 22; in Boulder at the school, one-half block off Highway 12; and in Cannonville, at the Community Center, 10 W. Center. Voting in Escalante will take place t the Community Senior Citizen Center, 55 N. 100 W.; in Hatch at the Town Hall, 14 W. Center; and in Henrieville at the Senior Citizens Center, 54 Main St. Voters in both Panguitch precincts will vote at the county courthouse, 55 S. Main Sat.; Ticaboo voters will all vote by absentee ballot; and Tropic's voters will cast their ballots at the firehouse, 40 N. 300 W. |
