Wintch will celebrate the occasion of their parents 60th wedding anniversary with an open house in their honor. Friends and relatives are Invited to attend at the family home In Tropic on April 17 from 2 until 7 p.m, The family has requested no gifts. In other action, the board voted to send a letter of response to Bryce Canyon National Park Superintendent Robert Benton setting forth their support of continued overnight accomodations within the park. The letter stated: "We would not object to either the upgrading of present facilities as per the agreed upon alternative selected as a result ot earlier hearings nor would we object to the building of new units if upgrading the older units actually proves to be economically unsound and unprofitable for the concessioner. "We would not like to see overnight accomodations eliminated from the park entirely. We prefer to see them remain essentially the same, providing the same number of units they currently do." Other discussion centered around the town's annual birthday celebration set for Memorial Day weekend. The event will Include a carnival In the morning hours with concessions, an afternoon movie, barbecue beef dinner, and an evening program. Weatherlzation improvements for some residences were discussed and a continuation of the use of low Income housing rehabilitation funds for projects such as shingling and other improvements. The town had earlier used $12,068 In such funds for two shingling projects and, with an additional $1,000 received and formally accepted at Wednesday's meeting, would apply this year's total funds of $2,067 to similar projects. Board member also determined to enforce the town's ordinance requiring compatabtlity with the town's code for any sewer or water lines outside town limits accepted for connection to the town's system. |
